“Regalia” Journal
“In this project I explored the symbolism and contradic- tions within religious iconography and attire. I utilised leather to mimic jewelry as a creative way to highlight the dichotomy between the teachings of simplicity and the reality of opulence within certain religious institutions. It prompts reflection on the tension between spiritual values and material extravagance. In my research I ex- plored “Papal” rings and nuns headpieces (especially “cornette” hats).”
